Africa Foto Fair is a new project extending from the photography festival Addis Foto Fest which was established in 2010 by photographer Aida Muluneh. As part of promoting photography from Africa and creating links with the international photography community, the Africa Foto Fair serves as a unique event that is also an online publication which continues the dialogue beyond the festival and boarders.
The virtual component of the festival offers in-depth podcast interviews, online portfolio reviews, database of resources and an online gallery that promotes and sells works by emerging talents from Africa and beyond. The launch of the new brand took place on December 8th, 2022, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire in partnership with Windsor through an exhibition as part of connecting East and West Africa in a new approach of creating a virtual and physical event that bridges with different parts of Africa as well as the world through creative and cultural exchanges.
Hosted at the MuCAT (Museum of Contemporary Cultures Adama Toungara) in Abobo, the AFRICA FOTO FAIR (AFF) was successfully launched in December 8th, 2022 with the first section of the exhibition “Africa Collection” that was visited by over 3,000 audience members. The festival also hosted various talks and also youth workshops in which the results were showcased inside the second launch the “World Collection” that took place February 12, 2023, and featured works by photographers from the globe which runs until March 26th, 2023.
