Higgins’s oeuvre portrays the dignity of the African American and African diasporic communities, and this work has brought Higgins all over the world, and to Africa in particular, many times.
As a portraitist and a social photographer, her work focuses principally on women and young generations. In 2005, she received an Africa in Creation Laureate prize (AFAA) and in 2011 she received a Laureate prize from the Blachère Foundation.
A self-taught documentary photographer and visual artist born in Nigeria. She works with various across disciplines and media, including photography and video. The primary focus of her work is the exploration of themes related to the human condition and social injustice.
