Africa Foto Fair is an online platform to connect Africa to the world and the world to Africa through images. Our goal is to build a global community that promotes exchange and supports the further development of photography from Africa.
Aida Muluneh
Founder
My name is Aida Muluneh. When I started working as a photographer in Ethiopia, I rapidly realized that we didn’t have enough infrastructure and opportunities for young talents to emerge and grow. In 2010, I decided to create the Addis Foto Fest, a photography festival held in Addis Ababa to showcase talents from the continent and beyond, and to create a platform where artists, collectors, and professionals can meet.
After several successful editions, the global pandemic hit, and we felt the need to find other ways to reach out to more people, without borders.
So, in 2022 we launched an even more ambitious project: the Africa Foto Fair. This virtual magazine serves as an online platform to connect Africa to the world and the world to Africa through images. It has a strong educational component to it, with the aim to empower young photographers with resources and opportunities so they can reach the international market. Our goal is to build a global community that promotes exchange and supports the further development of photography from Africa. This platform is also an online gallery where photography lovers can buy images, printed in Abidjan by Africa Print House, and delivered directly to their homes.
