Ala Kheir is a Sudanese visual storyteller, born and raised in Khartoum. His photography blends documentary and artistic approaches to explore themes of memory, identity, and social issues, offering intimate and layered perspectives on everyday life in Sudan. Through his lens, Kheir captures the complexity and beauty of his homeland’s diverse society. He has exhibited his work widely, both locally and internationally, and has played a vital role in supporting and promoting photography within Sudan. As both an exhibitor and instructor at the Africa Foto Fair (AFF), Kheir has contributed significantly to the growth of emerging African photographers.

In 2025, he co-mentored the AFF Virtual Mentorship Program, supported by CatchLight, alongside Aïda Muluneh. The program featured ten virtual sessions covering concept development, peer feedback, individual critique, technical mastery, editing, portfolio building, and networking strategies.
